Fly Reels

Henschel

Made in Germany to the highest standards, Henschel reels are superb saltwater and freshwater fly fishing reels. Available in a wide variety of finishes, we would strongly recommend the standard Black & Silver finish for use in saltwater. There are sizes to takes lines from size 1 to size 16 together with large amounts of backing where needed. They carry the manufacturers lifetime guarantee to the registered first owner - against faulty materials and bad workmanship.

Technical specifications

The Hart-Coat finish provides a coating thickness of 0.02" with a Vickers Hardness of 450-550, HV 0,025, extremely high resistance to corrosion, high resistance to wear, and good anti-friction properties. We believe this coating is superior to any other aluminium coating. Its satin finish also minimises flash from reflected sunlight.

All parts are machined from Duraluminium on the most up-to-date CNC machines (Computer controlled). The frame is designed to withstand extreme loading. The steel components are machined from corrosion resistant stainless steel and the anti-reverse crank is cut by laser and then hand finished.

All the spools are ventilated to reduce weight - 2 rows in the smaller sizes, 3 in the larger. A large palming rim on the spool allows for further braking should it be required. Spool change is easily accomplished with a coin - no tool needed. The spools have a large capacity - increased even more if you use Superbraid backing. Go to Superbraid backing.

The reel bearings are the finest needle-bearings sealed against the polished axis, with a sealed-in lifelong supply of oil. Because of the high specification of these reels they are factory set for left or right hand wind, and this cannot be user-altered. It is worth remembering, you are going to do a lot more winding than you usually do when trout or salmon fishing.
